ACCT’s 2021 two-day Virtual Diversity Institute focuses on exploring the policies and practices that help community college governing boards and college leaders create a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) mindset for their colleges to foster a more equitable institution for their communities.  Actionable steps, policy imperatives and metrics that create forward momentum and accountability will be explored over two consecutive Tuesdays, June 22nd and June 29th, respectively. Teams of college leaders and boards of trustees are encouraged to attend.

Goals of the Virtual Diversity Institute

  • Identifying boards’ and CEOs’ roles in creating a diversity, equity and inclusion mindset.

  • Developing an equity mindset for yourself and your college, i.e. learning about leading with an Equity Lens.

  • Identifying our diverse student populations and the barriers they face accessing our colleges.

  • Addressing the misperceptions that impede our ability to build an equity-minded college community.

  • Exploring board policies and college DEI practices that work to foster a more equitable institution.

  • Learning about DEI tools available for colleges to measure and assess their progress.

  • Creating actionable steps and policy imperatives to deepen equity and greater student success.
